Yesterday, Mother Nature decided to pay a chilly visit to St. Louis, and by the time she left, almost 8 inches of snow had accumulated at our house. The Chef loved it. Me … not so much.
Don’t get me wrong; snow can be very pretty and all, but driving in it just isn’t my cup of tea. In fact, I shiver every time I hear we may get more than an inch or two.
But, as I said, a fresh blanket of snow can be truly beautiful — sometimes even magical — and the view from my backyard as the snow came down yesterday — and the fire in our fireplace — warmed my heart to Mother Nature’s chilly treat just a bit.
Know what else warms my heart? A giant, steaming bowl of homemade soup, stew, or chili on a winter day such as this. The warmth of the bowl, along with the warmth of the contents inside, can blend together to comfort not only a hungry tummy, but possibly your soul as well.
I think I’ve spoken about The Chef and my’s love for most food in bowl form here at Rhubarb and Honey before, but it can’t hurt to wax poetic about it again … especially when you may be searching for a fabulous recipe to warm your heart, your stomach, or your soul tonight.
