About

Welcome to Rhubarb and Honey, a blog chronicling my love affair with food. When I cook, I’ll tell you what I made. When I dine out, I’ll tell you what I ate. When I come across interesting articles about food, I’ll tell you about them … and give you my unsolicited opinions as well.

Hi, I’m Kimberly, and I’m responsible for all the content you read here on this blog.

Apart from blogging at Rhubarb and Honey, I work full-time as a product manager for an international publishing company, serve as a consulting board member for Slow Food St. Louis, and am also the “Director of Que-munications” for Serious Que BBQ,a competitive BBQ team comprised of my brother and sister-in-law, my husband (aka, “The Chef”), my mom and dad, and myself.

Rhubarb and Honey started in 2007 as two other blogs, Everybody Loves Cheese and Adventures in Eating Locally. After almost three years of maintaining two separate food blogs, I decided to combine them into one new blog hosted on its own domain, and thus, Rhubarb and Honey was born.

My personal food philosophy is that healthy, delicious food, preferably produced locally and in a sustainable manner, should be available to everyone. To that end, I strive to use as much local, organic, and/or artisanally-produced food as possible when preparing the recipes available on Rhubarb and Honey (to learn more about where I source ingredients from, please see the Recommended Resources page of this blog.)

Outside of food, my personal interests include theater, crafts, photography, and community activism. I’ve previously served on the boards and committees of Echo Theater Company (Advisory Board Member), Food Outreach (Development Committee), i-squared: The Young Friends Network of the International Institute (Immediate Past President), and Metropolis St. Louis (Secretary, Living Environment Chair).

In addition to talking about food here at Rhubarb and Honey, I’ve decided to branch out and show you my love of crafts and photography as well. As the aunt of two adorable nephews, coming up with creative ideas to keep them occupied has become a regular part of my life … and capturing their antics on film is just plain fun.

So, is there anything else you need to know? Well, I’m addicted to magazines and shoes. Clowns freak me out. So do escalators. I think I could live on fresh bread, fresh vegetables (except celery and beets … I hate them), balsamic vinegar, and cheese. I can’t whistle, and I frequently daydream about moving to the beach.

Thanks for checking out Rhubarb and Honey. While you’re here, you should subscribe to my blog feed … you never know what you might learn!
